Default Guild Requirements

Hi, i think the Requirements for founding a Guild should be raised.
I dont know if there is a Requirement for Members but i saw so many Guilds with only 1 or 2 People in it that its just too confusing.
(Worst i saw was a Guy who started a Guild and offered the first 2 People who joined him to be Officers. I dont think its supposed to be like that.)

It should be just fixed so you have to have at least 10 members before you can found a Guild.
That would make it easier for new Players to choose a good one and also some Guilds could establish, become big and offer better help to new players.

Well, just my two cents

Yah I saw someone who said the first 5 people to join would be made officers. The only problem with a required number of people to start a guild is that some players make their own guild that just include family, RL friends, or friends from other games sometimes. Some people just want a guild so they can have a cool looking cape(something I've wanted to do if the capes didn't look so bad on Druid Armor). Maybe their could be a billboard that allows guilds to advertise membership or something. But I'm afraid were gonna be stuck with the random shouters for a very long time...

Yeah, the Capes...maybe they should put an Guild Applicant Rank in and after they got approved from the Guild (maybe after a week) they can get their Cape.

That would kinda solve that Problem

I meant some people make 1 man guilds just to get the cape. So I think they should add a way to get a cape without needing the guild. That would probably knock off a lot of small guilds.

Oh, i misunderstood you there
Yeah, just selling the Capes or whatever would make it easier.
Coz choosing your Guild based on the Cape is just dumb and doesnt help the Guild nor the Player.

[joke]
Or make some Ranking System with Capes...the Higher you get in the Guild, the cooler your Cape will be. (Or for Founders...the older the Guild is)
So all the peeps who just get into a Guild for a Cape get the crappy looking ones (for example Bright Pink with white dots)
[/joke]

But no matter what, the GW Devs have to change the actual Guild System.
Hopefully they really read the Forum and pick up some Ideas

no no, not a requirement, higher money cost fine by me.
but not connected to members.

I for one have a guild which now consists out of 5 members, it's small because I carefully pick my members and at least want to have had numerous party-ocassions with them.

but then again my intention is to get a bigger guild, and not to stay small, but I don't like it if you would have to have 10 people to start a guild.. that'd just even more encourage all the people randomly asking if u want to be in it just so they can start it.

The shouts for members are a big Problem.
I always think that Guilds who have to stand all day at the Market shouting for Members arent worth joining.

When you have to "apply" for a Guild i get the feeling they mean it serious and its worth being in there.

But lots of People see that different

More Money cost would be another good Idea since Newbies dont really have money.

I see people advertising inviting people into their guild saying they had over 100 people. That really ticked me off, I'm a leader of a small guild of about 8 players.Like sheesh you don't need 100 people to have fun, put a guild number cap of 50 or something. No wonder their is no guildless people anymore.

I'm not against small guilds, I'd only wish, there would be official guild pages viewable ingame. With these everyone could check whether or not that guild would be interesting. But beside this it would also be a good thing, if You'd get some visible item, that shows how big Your guild is. Well, an idea just striked me: Why not some kind of ghost (visible only in towns) whos color depends on Your guilds position (compared to other guilds) and whos sice depends on the number of members. (Just image somebody running around with a big black ghost smiling evil. (Signifying: take care: We never loose and we are legion.)

A week or two ago I proposed to a game master, to implement some kind of blackboard in every town where everyone could enter their wishes. (e.g. "guild looking for members") If this were even combined with some kind of shop nobody would need to shout out their lungs to get rid of stuff.

I'm all for giving more information about each guild in-game (length of time together, amount of members, some type of activity percentage, etc.). I'm not for making it harder for a guild to be created. Having a guild in this game is important to gain access to the various parts of the game (and have a more enjoyable time)... you can't ever guarantee that the guild you join will provide these things, but you shouldn't make the ability for people to accomplish this task even more tough than it already is.

I agree that we have lots of smaller inactive guilds, and everyone is trying their hand at getting a group started using every tactic (for better or worse) to gain the best members possible. This only serves to make a good, active guild that much more meaningful.

Lol, so you think there are no people to join your guild because the big guild swallowed them up? It's probably the exact opposite - everyone and his dog wanted to design a cape and be in charge, so for each person in a 20+ person, established guild you have 5 people in little 5-10 man guilds and a dozen or more in guilds with 4 or fewer players. That's where they get sucked up, in the tons of little guilds - I see people complaining that "I can't get people to join my guild, they're already in guilds"; that is because they too designed a cape and started a guild, resulting in thousands of little 3 man guilds running around complaining. Not everyone can be the boss...

If you want to build a good guild you need to recruit people, and not by offering membership to everyone around. Play with people, when they play well add them to friends list, when you get a bunch of them around, suggest starting up your own guild, some may be unhappy anyway, so they can join you in a new guild. Make a webpage, advertise on forums that you aare recruiting. Describe your guild philosophy, play time etc. Test applicants before taking them in. That's how a good guild is born.
